The IDCS collects data from every pack that has passed through your Ishida checkweigher and integrated metal detectors, generating impactful graphic displays and reports (see table) with a wide range of profitable uses.
The information enables you to reduce giveaway and downtime and increase efficiency (including Overall Equipment Efficiency, OEE), rapidly paying for the system and making a real and lasting contribution to your bottom line.
Imagine the effect on shop floor staff, for example, of a live display of losses through overfilling, presented as pounds sterling or euros. In combination with incentive schemes, such displays act as excellent motivators, as well as helping to identify rapidly where training or equipment adjustments are needed.

Q. What models of Ishida checkweighers can be connected to the IDCS?
A. The IDCS will work with the following models in the Ishida checkweigher range:
- DACS - V

Q. Will IDCS connect to other Ishida equipment other than checkweighers?
A. IDCS has been specifically designed to capture the data from every pack that passes across an Ishida checkweigher, to report compliance with average weight legislation achieved by the checkweigher and to highlight cost saving opportunities for your business. IDCS can only accept data from Ishida Checkweighers; no other Ishida equipment is compatible with IDCS.
Q. Will the system connect to non Ishida checkweighers?
A. The IDCS is especially designed to harness the information from Ishida checkweighers and will not connect to non Ishida checkweighers.
Q. Will future Ishida checkweigher models be compatible with the system?
A. Yes. All future Ishida checkweighers will be designed to work with the IDCS.
Q. If I upgrade my Ishida checkweigher will I need to upgrade my IDCS?
A. No, IDCS will work with all future Ishida checkweigher models.
Q. What languages are available on IDCS?
A. The IDCS is currently available in English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Polish and Russian.
Installing IDCS
Q. How many Ishida checkweighers can I connect to the IDCS?
A. Up to 100 Ishida checkweighers can be connected to the IDCS system.

A. The table below lists the minimum requirements for each option:

Q. Alongside the server, what other items will I need to supply to set up IDCS?
A. You will need to supply the following items:
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
- Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
- Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution.
- Two Ethernet ports
- Depending on the number of machines connected a high speed Network Interface Card (NIC) 1GB may be required between the server and the switch on the machine network
- Ethernet Switches
- A switch to inter-connect the machines.
- Multiple switches may be required depending on network topology.
- LAN Cables
- A minimum standard of Cat5e will need to be fitted
Q. Can the IDCS be networked?
A. Yes, there can be an Ethernet connection from your network to the IDCS server.
Q. Can I connect the IDCS to my existing server?
A. We would prefer not to as the data flow may slow up the existing network.
Q. How long does it take to install the IDCS?
A. Our engineers will work to install the IDCS as efficiently as possible. On average it takes 4 hours per checkweigher and approximately 1 day to commission IDCS (dependent upon the number of checkweigher connections).
Q. Will production have to be stopped whilst the IDCS is installed?
A. The checkweigher will have to be temporarily stopped whilst the IDCS is connected to it, but it can continue whilst the server is commissioned.
Q. Is training available for the IDCS?
A. Yes. Ishida Europe will be pleased to arrange IDCS training for your business.

Q. Can the IDCS calculate the cost to my business of product giveaway?
A. Yes, the IDCS generates a report showing the value of hourly and accumulated losses through product giveaway.
Q. Will I get batch data reports?
A. Yes, these are generated by the Ishida checkweigher; these reports are designed to be compliant with e-pre package regulations.
Q. Can I group Ishida checkweighers together for data collection purposes?
A. Yes, each Ishida checkweigher is capable of having both an individual identification and a group identification. These can be used when compiling reports.
Q. Can IDCS calculate the amount of packaging wastage?
A. Yes, and against a nominated currency.
Q. Can I save the IDCS data to Excel format?
A. Yes the data can be exported to Excel. You can also print, save to disk and email the data.
Q. Can the reports be customised to my requirements?
A. There is significant flexibility built into IDCS such that users can select fields incorporated within any particular report, in addition the user can also customise how in built graphs are presented. In cases where the inbuilt flexibility does not provide a solution, data can be exported to Excel enabling fully customised reports to be generated.
Q. How long is the data stored on the server for?
A. The data is stored in the IDCS database indefinitely. To ensure data security implementing a back up policy is recommended
Q. Can key performance levels be displayed on the factory floor?
A. In combination with incentive schemes, such displays can act as excellent motivators for your shop floor staff. IDCS information can be displayed on the factory floor with the addition of touch screen displays.
Access to IDCS
Q. Can access to the IDCS be controlled?
A. Yes, the system is password protected, you can control who has access and also the level of access that they are given.
Q. How many people can log on to the IDCS at any one time?
A. There is no restriction as to how many people can log onto IDCS at once.
Using IDCS
Q. Can I download product details to the checkweighers?
A. Yes, however not all parameters are available.
Q. Can I upload product details from the checkweigher?
A. Not directly, however, operation of new products are recognised by the system and stored within the product data base.
Q. Is the system capable of storing data should the link between the server and the checkweigher be lost?
A. Yes, there is a memory resident within an electronic format converter installed upon the checkweigher during IDCS installation. If the communication between Checkweigher and server is interrupted for any reason data is held in memory at the checkweigher. Once connection is re-established the checkweigher memory resident data is communicated to the server database ensuring that no production data is lost.
Q. Can the data collected from the checkweighers be backed up and archived?
A. Data from the checkweighers can be backed up, however at this time there is no archive facility.
Q. Will there be any data loss if a power failure occurs?
A. No, data will not be lost if a power failure occurs. As each pack passes the scale the data is immediately saved at the checkweigher and when the power is restored the data is transferred to the server.
Q. Will the IDCS continue to collect data following a power failure?
A. Yes. If the server fails to power up following power loss the data is saved on the checkweigher. If there is no user logged into the server the data continues to be collected by the IDCS.
Q. How long can the Ishida checkweigher collect data if the connection to the server is lost?
A. The Ishida checkweigher is capable of storing 4 -6 weeks of production data.
