Introducing OEE into your business with IDCS

Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) is already a key performance indicator for many world class companies. Its use continues to spread as more and more enterprises, large and small, realise that it offers an excellent benchmark and helps to identify and focus on simple, practical changes that improve cash flows, returns on investment and bottom lines.

Checkweighers (with or without integrated metal detectors), when combined with the Ishida Data Capture System (IDCS), offer an ideal gateway through which to introduce OEE. Because they provide information about every single pack, they are an excellent source of data from which IDCS can generate a rich array of displays and reports.

OEE displays and reports

OEE is a percentage. It is arrived at by multiplying three other percentages (Availability, Performance and Quality) together.

Each of these components is itself a useful pointer to potential improvements, a fact reflected in the many reports and real-time displays offered by IDCS.

The meter-type displays shown here, for example, offer an at-a-glance appraisal of OEE and its components.

IDCS also provides a trace chart (also available in histogram form) showing how a particular line has been performing on these same four parameters over a recent time period.

An IDCS OEE Shift Report gives details not just on OEE and its three components, but also shows, for example Proper Weights, Effective Operating Time and Real Operating time.
