Ishida Unveils A ’Revolution’ in Traysealing
14/09/2006
Ishida Europe claims to have completely re-engineered the top sealing of trays with the introduction of its QX-1100 traysealer. The new tray sealer model is capable of sealing up to 200 trays per minute – 25% higher than its nearest competitors - making it the fastest twin lane traysealer in the industry. Features such as fast tooling changeover, gentle product handling, compact dimensions and low running costs combine to offer an excellent return on floor space and deliver perfectly presented packs for supermarket shelves.
The QX1100 traysealer incorporates several design innovations to achieve a high level of performance. These include advanced servomotor control, an innovative gripper arm design and enhanced software. Complete quality control is provided via the full integration of checkweighing and gas analysis functions, together with a web cam and product recognition camera. Rejected packs are removed prior to sealing, saving film and allowing trays to be re-used where possible.
A weight-saving design and a new tool handling system, which requires no lifting, simplify and speed up product changeovers. The tool design minimises air and gas consumption while extensive use of servo-controls saves energy. The design and manufacturing times for the tooling have also been reduced, enabling tools for any tray specification to be produced more quickly. Typical time for the tool to heat up is five minutes, again the fastest in the industry.
Ishida’s proven inside-cut tray sealing technology, which ensures that no film extends beyond the tray edges, optimises pack presentation. The seal width is fully adjustable to meet individual tray requirements and seals can be flat, concave or convex. The gas mix is continually analysed and automatically adjusted to ensure the right modified atmosphere is achieved for each product.
Fast tool changes and a hygienic, IP65 design minimise downtime. Sensitive parts are well protected inside the robust frame and can be easily accessed for maintenance, without removing the tool. A sleep-mode facility avoids condensation inside the tool and ensures that the traysealer machine is always ready for immediate use.
The QX 1100 Tray sealers compact dimensions are further enhanced by a unique gull-wing door opening profile, which provides full access without requiring any extra floor space. In addition, a user-friendly windows XP colour touch screen ensures ease of operation and provides instant set-up and on-line diagnostics.
“We are very proud of the new QX1100 traysealer, which we believe represents a major step forward in tray sealing technology,” comments Ishida Europe’s Marketing Director Paul Griffin.
“The QX 1100 traysealer dramatically improves packing line performance, saves on materials and consumables, while assisting operators to be more productive. Put simply, it changes the economics of tray sealing.”
