Award Recognises Advanced Sealing Technology

The technical achievements of Ishida’s groundbreaking QX-1100 traysealer have been recognised by the winning of a prestigious award.

At the inaugural UK Packaging Awards, organised by the UK’s leading packaging publication Packaging News, the QX-1100 tray sealer was named the year’s Innovative Machinery Development.

The UK Packaging Awards have been established to honour outstanding achievement across the whole field of packaging. Judges were chosen both from top international companies, including Unilever and Procter & Gamble, and across a wide range of expertise from packaging machinery to pack design to environmental aspects.

The QX-1100 tray sealer’s award was in recognition of the fact that Ishida has completely rethought the top sealing of convenience trays. The new design was seen as firmly rooted in customer input, with an eye to both current and anticipated market trends. Ishida received credit for applying the latest thinking in mechanical and electronic engineering to meet these needs.

The key feature of the new tray sealer machine is speed. While it is a flexible, modern design, allowing rapid changes from one type of tray to another through fast and efficient tool-swapping, it is the first tray sealer machine to offer speeds of 200 trays per minute, comparable to the less flexible platen-type design of earlier models.

“We believe the QX-1100 tray sealer represents a real breakthrough in tray sealing technology and are delighted to have this confirmed by this important award,” comments Ishida Europe’s Marketing Director Paul Griffin.

“The speed and flexibility benefits, which mean users can get more out of their factory floor space, clearly impressed the judges but its clean and innovative design is also a strong selling point.”
