Ishida in partnership with EHEDG to improve food safety and optimise hygienic design

03 Mar 2022

Ishida are pleased to be associated with EHEDG and its members to ensure the provision and maintenance of exceptionally high standards of hygienic process design, enhancing food safety.

Ishida’s association with EHEDG ensures the latest food safety guidance and advice is part of the hygienic design phase for new product development and continuous product improvement.  In addition to EHEDG, Ishida also works to the principles of the Machinery Safety Directive as well as hygienic guidelines of EN1672-2 and EN ISO 14159 in addition to sector specific safety and hygiene guidelines, ensuring that food handling, safety and machine cleanability are always designed into Ishida’s solutions.

In working with EHEDG, the European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group, there is a common goal to advance hygiene, improve food safety, and increase cleaning efficiency and effectiveness during the processing and packaging of food products.

EHEDG actively supports European legislation, which requires that handling, preparation processing and packaging of food is done hygienically using hygienic machinery and in hygienic premises according to the food hygiene directive, the machinery directive and the food contact materials directive (see EC Directive 2006/42/EC for Machinery, EN 1672-2 and EN ISO 14159 on Hygiene requirements for the design of machinery).

Equipment manufacturers and users are responsible to implement these requirements and EHEDG provides guidance on the essential hygienic design standards in compliance with national and international legislation.
